Yangon's traffic police will take action against parking violators on six-lane roads and other major roads in Yangon Region, an official from Yangon Region's Traffic Rules Enforcement Supervisory Committee says.
Yangon Regional Government has announced
that the vehicles are prohibited from parking on the following roads
except for temporary parking: Pyay Road, Kabar Aye Pagoda Road,
Bayintnaung Road, Strand Road, Baho Road, Insein Road, Laydauntkan Road,
Banyardala Road, Thudamar Road, East/West Shwegondine Road, Thamein
Bayan Road, Waizayannar Road, Kandawgyi Circular Road, Parami Road,
Thanthumar Road, Min Nandar Road, Traders Road, Maha Bandoola Road,
Anawrahta Road, Bogyoke Aung San Road, Inya Road, Dhammazedi Road,
Bagayar Road, Thamine Station Road, Hledan Road, and Lower Pazundaung
Road.
"We have announced that vehicles cannot
park on 26 roads in Yangon. Now, we are undergoing a two-week education
period. After the education period has ended, we will start taking
actions in line with the vehicle law and fines. We have already imported
tow trucks to tow vehicles that conduct parking violations," Police
Major Thar Htay, joint secretary of Traffic Rules Enforcement
Supervisory Committee said on Friday.
Public transportation buses have to
follow the regulations for picking up and dropping off passengers on the
parking restricted roads and some vehicle accidents and traffic
congestion have occurred due to some buses that park on the roads at
night, according to the committee.
