MYANMAR: Teijin Frontier to set up business in Burma

Fibre, textile and apparel business Teijin Frontier is to set up a new company in Myanmar/Burma next month, as part of efforts to strengthen its overseas operations and expand its global network.

The new company, Teijin Frontier Myanmar Co, will handle production management for Teijin Frontier's overseas manufacturing network, explore opportunities for new production facilities and conduct domestic market research.

Teijin Frontier will own a 99% share in the new Yangon-based firm, while Teijin Frontier Thailand will hold the remaining 1%.

"Myanmar is seen as a promising China-plus-one market, and as we focus on strategic global expansion this year, the establishment of this new company will help reinforce sewing productivity and improve our production management capabilities," said company president Tetsushi Takenaka.

"Teijin Frontier will continue to strengthen its global value chain from raw materials to finished products."
