Over 135 acres owned by Myanmar Port Authority at Thilawa Special Economic Zone in Thanlyin and Kyauktan Townships of Yangon region have been leased to private fuel companies to operate fuel storage and distribution, according to Directorate of Investment and Companies Administration (DICA ).
Five companies comprising PadaukShwewa,
ThuriRaSweninn, ShweTaung, International Group of Entrepreneur and Green
Asia companies leased those land plots by Building, Operating and
Transferring (BOT) system.
The companies will build jetties to load fuel and distribution works.
Plots of land for rent were available
for sometime at the Strand Road in Thilawa Special Zone but term and
conditions for the lease were not officially announced.
Fuel business are mostly in hands of
Htoo, PyiKhaingPhyo, Myanmar Economic Holding Limited, Max Myanmar,
International Great Enterprises-IGE, Dagon International, KaungZawHein,
AyeyarShwewa, Yuzana, Edin, ShweThanLwin, AnawaHlwein, Myat Myitta Mon,
Nila Yoma, ShweTaung, Green Asia, Kaytumati, Zay Kabar, Myanmar Naing
Group and 2000 limited.
Previously, the government controlled
fuel distribution. Private sector was allowed to run the business
recently since June 20, 2010.
