Myanmar will invite tenders for running coffee shops with public toilets on Yangon-Mandalay Expressway soon, according to sources from the Ministry of Construction.
The ministry has constructed some coffee shops and some more are still under construction on the expressway, it said.
"The ministry is now in the process of
building the coffee shops for the convenience of the people travelling
on the expressway. A number of toilets have already been completed while
many other are being constructed.
The coffee shop operators are required
to take care the toilets, which to be opened for service to travelers
free of charge, said Kyi Zaw Myint, the chief engineers of the
expressway.
The entrepreneurs in the bidding will
get one-year permission to run the places if they're selected and car
repair services shops will also be built nearby.
"The shops will be built every 20 miles
along the road. The construction project is now 80% completed. They use
solar power for electricity," he added.
Already finished public rest areas are
located at 76 Milestone, 158 Milestone, 243 Milestone, and 317
Milestone, according to the ministry. The construction of the coffee
shops to be attached has also started now.
