Japan Development Institute is drafting an implementation plan for Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone in Rakhine State, a source from Myanmar Port Authority said.
The master plan has been drawn by JDI
and the details of the drawing will be finalized and come out in the end
of this month so the project implementation could begin sooner, the
source told the Eleven Media.
He added that chairman of the special
economic zone will submit the finalized plan to the Presidential office
for further instructions.
The first phase of the plan will start
next year and accomplish in 2016. It includes the Kyaukphyu Deep Seaport
Project and a railway that will connect the special economic zone and
Yunnan Province of China, according to the Directorate of Investment and
Company Administration.
According to the "Focus, Plan and
Priority for Rakhine State's statement" issued last year, the government
is planning to develop the state's economy annually within five fiscal
years. Agriculture, Industry and Service sectors will be mainly focused
during the targeted years.
