Han Shin Construction, a top
construction company from South Korea, has proposed to build a housing
project in Dala, an international harbor, and a bridge to connect Yangon
and Dala, according to Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC).
During the discussion with YCDC, the
construction company said the projects are intended for the better
development of Dala, which remains largely rural as it lacks a bridge
across the Yangon River to connect with downtown Yangon.
Han Shin told YCDC that it will carry
out measurements for the projects and submit proposals for financial
aids if YCDC allows the projects.
The South Korea branch of Overseas
Private Investment Corporation, a US government’s development finance
institution, will aid in providing loans for the housing project in
Dala, according to Han Shin.
The construction company will also accept a joint cooperation with YCDC.
YCDC will submit the company's proposals
to Yangon regional government, which in turns will submit them to the
central government.
The total cost for the projects is estimated at US$250 millions.
