Thai businesspeople will visit Myanmar next Monday to discuss
investing in 16 industries, according to the Myanmar Federation of
Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
"They will discuss possible investments in energy, banking,
telecommunications, gems, rice exports, fishery products, textiles,
distribution, beverages and liquor, hotels, transport, education and
business-related media," a chamber official said in a statement
yesterday.
The Thai delegation will be led by Phongask Assakul, chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
Thai businesspeople are more interested in Myanmar after the enactment of the Foreign Investment Law.
"Four or five groups of Thai businessmen are arriving at the embassy
every day," said Pisanu Suvanajata, Thailand's ambassador to Myanmar.
"They are now seeking business opportunities in this country. Business
cooperation between the two countries and Asean-Myanmar business
cooperation are also attractive for them."
