Myanmar's foreign trade has
passed US$500 million mark for the last week, mainly from sea trade,
according to Ministry of Commerce.
The ministry said the country earned
over US$428 million from the sea trade and US$90 million from border
trade for the week from Oct 19 to 25.
During the period from Apr 1 to Oct 25
for the fiscal year (2013-14), Myanmar's total foreign trades also
surpassed the US$13 billion mark.
Despite the increased amount of foreign
trade, the country faced a trade deficit of more than US$1 billion as it
earned US$ 5.9 billion from export and US$ 7.1 billion from import
during the period.
For the current fiscal year, the total
foreign trade is expected to surpass US$25.5 billion by the government,
mainly from the sea trade (80%) and the border trade (20%).
The current trade amount only passed 51
percent against the year's expectation and only five months remained for
the year to end.
But the ministry said the total trade amount till this Oct 25 was US$ 3 billion more than that of last year.
