Myanmar's Ministry of Information is planning to lease two plots of land in Yangon worth five billion kyats each to Forever Group, a joint venture company currently in business with the ministry.
The 2 acres are in Yay Ku broadcasting
station in Yangon which is owned by the Ministry of Information. Forever
Group is leasing the land to build a studio for their programmes.
The land lease contract is for an initial five years and after which it can be renewable for up to 11 years.
Therefore the Ministry of Information
will get 600 million kyats for a five year contract for two acres of
land worth 10 billion kyat.
At a press meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on
June 29, Union Minister Soe Thein said that action can be taken against
anyone of the cabinet ministers including himself if they are found
making improper deals. But the accusation must be a concrete.
In order to fight bribery and
corruption, the Anti-corruption Committee led by the Vice President Dr.
Sai Mauk Kham and the Ministry for Home Affairs should investigate the
matter.
The land to be leased on Waizayandar
Road is worth over 10 billion kyats for one acre, according to the
actual real estate and land market price.
