The government is prepared to hire foreign experts and advisors to help with the handling of the Thilawa Special Economic Zone and not to put itself in a tight corner by signing agreement that would permit international law to take actions against the state.
President Thein Sein, who is the
chairperson of the SEZ central body, made the statement at the recent
meeting of Central Body of Myanmar Special Economic Zones (SEZ) which
was held at the President Office in Nay Pyi Taw on May 30.
He said foreign experts and advisors will be hired if it is necessary for Thilawa SEZ, Dawei SEZ and Kyaukphyu SEZ.
He also advised the members of central
body to be careful with signing agreements and contracts for SEZs and to
follow international laws in doing so.
Vice President Dr Sai Mauk Kham, Vice
President Nyan Tun, Union Ministers, Union Attorney General, Deputy
Ministers and respective senior officials joined the meeting.
