Japan-based Suzuki automaker is preparing to sell pickup trucks assembled in Yangon by the end of May, Ye Tun Oo, the Admin Manager from Myanmar Suzuki Motor Company said.
Suzuki Motor Corporation had sold 6,000
vehicles, including Pick-up(R-) and Wagon (R+) and about 10,000
motorcycles, in Myanmar from 1999 to 2010.
The company has returned to Myanmar’s market after three years of absence.
Myanmar Investment Commission has
granted the permission to Suzuki Motor Corporation in January, to
establish the automobile factory which can manufacture 100 vehicles per
month.
Suzuki worked in a joint venture with
Toyota Tsusho Corporation at first. The company is now entering with
full investment in the Myanmar’s market.
Suzuki is the only automaker company
established in Myanmar and is now preparing to expand the automaker
factory. Its automobile assembling plant is located in South Dagon
Industrial Zone in Yangon.
Suzuki Motor Corporation was founded in 1909 and it is Japan’s fourth-largest manufacture of small cars and trucks.
The company had sold 3 million of vehicles during last year and its revenue was close to US$ 32 billion.
Suzuki’s brands such as Alto, Lapin, MR
Wagon, Palette, Wagon R, Solio, Splash, Swift, SX 4, Kizashi, Every,
Every Landy, Ertiga, Landy, as well as APV, Jimny, Escudo, Carry and
Equator are being sold through over 109 countries.
