Jubilant Energy from India has
hired an Indian company to take environmental and social impact
assessment (SIA) survey at PSC I oil and natural gas field in Hintada
District.
The survey started during the first week of March. The company intended to finish the survey before April.
The Jubilant Energy has succeeded the
tender in 2012 and it hired an Indian company to take survey in Hintada,
Laymyatnar, Ingapu and Myanaung townships.
“The technicians will test the quality
of air around the environment, the noise, upper and underneath of water,
soil test, plants, animal species and weather. They will submit the
report to Ministry of Energy and Myanmar Investment Commission. After
that they will pre test geology with geologist. MIC allowed the project
to work for three years. We have not done exclusively for SIA survey
before that. Now the government prepared to prevent the environment and
take survey,” Nyi Nyi Soe, deputy executive geologist who is cooperating
with the technicians said.
The SIA research survey intended to
collect 10% of total population who live in the district. The company
chose seven villages to take survey for the first time in Hintada
district and they will collect the survey in respective townships and
villages.
