Yatanarpon Teleport cuts installation fee

Yatanarpon Teleport once again has reduced the installation fee for ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) Internet connections starting December 1, the company announced last month.
Yatanaron Teleport (YPT) is one of the Internet service providers and was established in 2006.
The initial installation fee has now been reduced to 100,000 kyats with annual fee of 60 FEC (Foreign Exchange Currency). The monthly fee will be the same as the previous rate – 25 FEC for 256 kilobytes per second, 60 FEC for 512kbps and 100 FEC for 1 megabyte per second.
For government, the Yatanarpon Teleport will charge 60,000 kyats annual fees with 20,000 kyats for 256kbps, 50,000 kyats for 526kbps and 80,000 kyats for 1mbps.
“Some places are not convenient for installing ADSL lines and a customer is required to have a land line,” a senior engineer from the department said.
Last October, YTP cut ADSL initial installation fee from 1,000 FEC to 500,000 kyats (excluding the price of modem).
MPT also reduced the ADSL service fee this year.
Myanmar established the International Internet Backbone Bandwidth 290mbps in 2008 and increased it to 3.9 gigabytes per second in 2011.
According to official data, there are over 333,548 mobile Internet users in Myanmar. The number of ADSL Internet users is 46,710.
