TOKYO, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Japan and Myanmar will start official
negotiations for a bilateral investment treaty next Tuesday in the
Myanmar city of Yangon, the Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry said
Thursday.
"We plan to discuss the substance of the treaty in pursuit of an early conclusion of the
negotiations," Kyodo quoted a statement released by the ministry as saying.
The two countries agreed last December to negotiate an investment pact during a foreign ministers' meeting. The pact will create a friendlier environment for Japanese companies to do business in Myanmar.
