Nissan factory to be built in Bago Region

A Nissan car factory is being planned on 80 acres of land in Myanmar's Bago Region, according to company sources.

The local company, United Diamond Motors have been authorised as the official distributor in July this year.

"Nissan will build its auto factory in Myanmar. Once the factory is built, it will start marketing its motors in the country. Though we are an authorised distributor for Nissan, no deal has been made with us yet for the marketing when the factory is built," said Aye Tun from United Diamond Motor.

Myanmar Investment Commission granted license to Malaysia's ETC Ltd. to manufacture Nissan branded motors in Bago Region on August 15 this year and the factory is expected to be completed by 2015.

Malaysia-based Tan Choung Group is operating in countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia and Cambodia, in direct cooperation with Japan's Nissan Company.
