The flyover is being targeted as a special project for the 2014-2015 fiscal year. First unveiled during a Yangon regional government session held on November 4 last year, the project is expected to cost more than K 16 billion.
The details of the flyover are not known yet. Nor has the name of the company permitted to build it been announced yet.
The government has built flyovers in three of Yangon’s busiest traffic places: Hledan, Shwe Gone Tine and Bayintnaung. Although the flyovers are finished, traffic is still congested in Yangon. The government has planned to construct the new flyover because Myaynigone junction is blocked with traffic during rush hour every day.
