Jointly organized by the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry-DIHK, UMFCCI and Delegation of German Industry and Commerce, the one-day bilateral business forum was held at the headquarters of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).
The forum was inaugurated by German President Joachim Gauck and USe Thein, Myanmar minister of President Office.
More than 150 German representatives led by Brigitte Zypries, state secretary of Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy and Ludwig Georg Braun, president of DIHK and about 200 Myanmar entrepreneurs attended the forum and discussed the matters related to economic situation in Myanmar, the German contribution to sustainable development and partnership matters.
During the occasion, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on economic cooperation was signed between UMFCCI and DIHK.
The forum was also attached with the official opening of the office of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce by the German president.
"Myanmar is in the process of catching up," comments Ludwig Georg Braun, "in order to stand its ground in regional competition broad activities in qualification and concepts for productive value chains will be key. Developing an entrepreneurial infrastructure is essential in this respect."
