Earlier this month, the Thein Phyu exchange centre bought a U.S. dollar with Ks 967 and sold it for Ks 975. At the same time, the selling rate was Ks 970 per dollar and the buying rate was Ks 969 per dollar on the black market.
Starting from November 22, the exchange rate for the U.S. dollar has increased to Ks 982 for selling and Ks 972 for buying. On the black market, the rate is Ks 980 per dollar for the selling price and Ks 972 per dollar for the buying price.
The U.S. dollar selling price reached Ks 885 to Ks 887 on November 26 in the Thein Phyu exchange centre and Ks 889 per dollar at the same time on the black market.
The official rate set by the Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) was Ks 982 per dollar yesterday and the selling price was Ks 988 per dollar. The buying price was Ks 978 per dollar in the Thein Phyu market. On the black market, the rate was Ks 990 per dollar for selling and Ks 988 per dollar for buying.
The current exchange rate is the highest exchange rate since July 8, when it was Ks 1,004 per U.S. dollar.
After the Central Bank began controlling the exchange rate on April 2 last year, the exchange rate was Ks 815 per dollar. It has increased to about Ks 175 per dollar.
