Hanoi, Vietnam -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/26/2013 -- Myanmar has seen much political change in recent years. This has of course resulted in a complete opening up of a society that for decades was secretive, and fearful of outside influence. The government now are embracing the changes and reaping the benefits. At a meeting with his cabinet members on August 9th, President Thein Sein announced a seven step plan for the remainder of his term of office. With thirty months still to rule, he wants to make sure that commitments are met and promises are kept.

The seven step road map to success provides detailed instructions to Ministers to work for a 24 hour electricity supply in Yangon and Mandalay. It further demands that supply is increase in all other states and regions. Power cuts are common place in the country and the President is determined to make them a thing of the past.

He further mandates Ministers to increase the supply of portable water within the Yangon region, Mandalay and other states. The farming industry is directed to increase supplies of food grain, increase productivity all round and put in place structures to enable farmers to receive cash loans to assist with farming and all related agricultural necessities.

Myanmar is moving forward at great speed, the improvements in the country are tremendous. Great strides have been made in a fledgling tourist industry that already sees thousands of tourists heading their way. Hotel build continues on apace and all aspects of local economies are reaping the benefits. Mr. Tran Truon CEO of Asia Tour Advisor said, “The President is keen to continue the great work that has been done so far. Agriculture and farming are obviously important to a country like Myanmar and it is obvious why assistance is being offered in this sector. The plans for enterprize zones, hotels and banking are really promising.”

Mr. Tran was of course referring to the development plans for medium sized business and the setting up of special economic zones. The President further insisted on the development of hotels and the tourism industry in general. Cabinet Ministers were directed to develop the banking sector and put in place systems for arranging small loans. Trade and Investment sectors have not been left out, the road map offers guidelines on initiatives and development here also.

The President is determined to ensure that his plan is implemented. He is obviously going for a hands-on approach, having added, “Starting today, I will form a state-level reform leading committee and I shall personally lead and focus on these reforms.”

The plans for increased tourism and hotel build, will be of particular interest to companies like ATA, who have already taken a leading role in the booking of holidays to Myanmar. Tourism is seeing the biggest improvements of all business, here in Myanmar. So many people are traveling here now, it is hard to believe that just a few short years ago, nobody was coming.
