Myanmar tourist guides association objects to temple dinners in Bagan

Myanmar Tourist Guides Association (MTGA) will make a complaint against holding temple dinners for foreigners near pagodas around the ancient city of Bagan, according to MTGA officials.
The Bagan archaeological department has allowed the hosting of temple dinners for tourists outside of the ancient pagodas in three main sites.

“It won’t be appropriate to see dinners held near pagodas in religious view. The ministry have allowed them in three places; Shwe Nan Yin Taw pagoda, Damayan Gyi pagoda and around Ohtein Gone in Bagan. We have submitted the issue to the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism,” said Zaw Win Cho, Chairman of MTGA.

Although the dinners are allowed, the MTGA chairman highlighted the issue at the meeting between government officials of district and township and civic organisations held in Nyaung Oo on July 29.
