Discussions are still underway between Myanmar authorities and the Korean firm set to construct a bridge over the Yangon River connecting downtown Yangon and suburban Dala Township, according to Regional Authorities.
The Korean company, whose name was not
disclosed by the authorities, has reportedly conducted a study about the
project in 2011 and highlighted its positive impact on the development
of Dala Township.
“The Korean company will build a bridge
between Yangon and Dala. But it is still in the discussion stages," said
an official from the Yangon Region Government.
"The bridge will be very high so that
ships can pass below it. Even if the bridge construction is approved, it
will take time as the company will need to ask for money from their
government."
Yangon City Development Committee said the Korean firm is also interested in constructing a tunnel connecting Yangon and Dala.
