Myanmar Airways International (MAI) launched its first commercial flight to Japan on Saturday, while flight to South Korea is in the pipeline.
A total of 103 passengers arrived at the Mandalay Airport with the
commercial flight and flew to Bagan with Air KBZ airline on Sunday. They
will depart for Japan tomorrow from Yangon International Airport,
according to reports.
The airline now provides its commercial flight services to the four major cities -Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Okinawa – in Japan.
"We'll have another five more flights between April and May. We also
plan to fly regular flights to Japan and South Korea in the near
future," said Aye Mra Tha from the airline.
Earlier this month, MAI and Korea Air signed a codeshare and
partnership memorandum of understanding Korea Air's headquarters in
Seoul, South Korea.
