Traders are now able to start using Individual Trading Card in Lweje border trade center, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
ITC cards have been used in Tamu, Muse,
Myawaddy and Tachileik border trade centers. The ministry will allow ITC
at other border trade centers later on.
ITC was introduced in Tamu border trade center on November 21, Muse and Myawaddy on December 1, 2012 and Tachileik on February 1, 2013. ITC are now able to use at Lweje, border trade town of Myanmar and China.
The card holders are allowed direct
trade at borders only. They cannot involve in transit trade. They also
need to make dealings on the basis of two countries’ currencies only.
The card holders are allowed to trade
157 export items and 242 import items. The authorities are issuing ITC
to prevent and eliminate illegal trade. The value of 645 million kyats
imports were imported by ITC holders and import value is higher than
export value.
