TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwan can tap into
the Myanmar market, especially in the infrastructure and commodity
sectors, as the Southeast Asian nation has been moving toward economic
liberalization, Taiwan's main trade promotion body said recently.
Small- and medium-sized
businesses can use their strengths and technologies in the electrical
and machinery industries to meet demand in Myanmar, the Taiwan External
Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said.
In its process of
liberalization, Myanmar will need to develop its infrastructure,
especially its power systems, the council said in a statement.
Power supply plays a critical role in economic development, and Myanmar
is “in desperate need” of related services, TAITRA said.
