Myanmar is hoping to use the
2013 World Economic Forum on East Asia, to be hosted by the country, as
an opportunity to discuss possible investment opportunities in the
country, according to officials.
A press release from the President Office said the organising committee will be formed and headed by two government ministers.
Myanmar is hopeful on the forum that it
may discuss foreign investment opportunities in the country and economic
development issues. It is also expected to share the knowledge and
experience of leading economists during the forum.
With President Office Ministers Soe
Thein and Tin Naing Thein as the chairmen, the World Economic Forum on
East Asia-2013 Observance Committee is comprised its members of
ministers, deputy ministers, representatives from the Republic of the
Union of Myanmar Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Myanmar
Tourisum Industry Federation, Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs’
Association and officials from Myanmar Market Promoting Committee.
According to World Economic Forum’s website, the Forum will be held in Nay Pyi Taw from June 5 to 7.
The agreement to hold the forum in Myanmar was reached in the 21st World Economic Forum on East Asia held in Thailand last year.
