Google, Intel and Microsoft are preparing to open
representative offices in Yangon this year, according to Myanmar
Computer Federation chairman Khun Oo.
“The companies are looking for office locations,” he said, adding
that “they will be very useful for Myanmar’s [information technology]
sector”.
IT technician Aung Myo Lwin welcomed the news. “It’s a good sign for job opportunities for Myanmar people,” Aung Myo Lwin said.
The companies’ products are already distributed and sold here through
authorised dealers, but the opening of offices signals greater interest
in the IT market here and will benefit IT users, IT workers said.
