MPT assigned RB Consultancy Company from
Ireland to consult for the tender. The company and the tender
scrutinizing committee under the Ministry of Communications and
Information Technology signed a contract in Nay Pyi Taw on January 8,
2013 to invite tender for the communication sector.
“All companies can submit tender if
their organisations meet the regulations. We said before that how many
operators will assign. We will invite tender, while we submitted the
communication draft law to the parliament,” said Kyaw Soe, headmaster of
The Telecommunication and Posts Training School.
Myanmar Telecommunication Department will be turned into Myanmar Telecom Co., Ltd which will not depend on state budget.
MPT will gave the permission to Myanmar
Telecom Company, Yatanarpon Telecom Company and two other companies to
compete the communication services sectors such as Mobile, Information
Technology, Internet and Public Switched Telephone Network.
The four companies will expand the phone
lines into 10 million in 2013-2014, 14 million in 2014-2015 and 15.5
million in 2015-2016, totaling 39.5 million, according to earlier
announcement.
