Hydrotek, a small operator in the
construction and environmental-engineering management business, plans to
expand into Myanmar and Indonesia to embrace the upcoming Asean
Economic Community, due to be launched in 2015.
Chief executive officer Slib Soongswang
said the company planned to invest in a tap-water project, using the
reverse-osmosis system, in Indonesia. "The company is now in talks with a
local partner to form a joint venture to produce and supply tap water
in Bandung," he said.
The company expects to start at least one project next year, Slib said.
The firm's planned wastewater-treatment project in an industrial estate in Myanmar is awaiting approval.
"If there is not any inquiry, we expect
to receive approval by year-end," he said, adding that the project,
which holds a 30-year concession, would have an investment value of Bt7
billion to Bt8 billion. The company will need to invest Bt300 million in
the project initially.
The projects in Myanmar and Indonesia, if successful, should start generating returns for the company after 2014, he said.
