The Myanmar Pulses, Beans and Sesame Seeds Association has said that the
bean and pulse market in Burma has slowed down through November;
however, the green mung bean market has remained stable.
“Apart
from green beans, the sale of all other types of beans has cooled
somewhat,” said a trader who exports beans and pulses to Singapore.
“Although it was estimated that the price of Myanmar beans and pulses
would strengthen, it has not.
“This is partly because of a
decreased yield in Indian beans. India exports beans to Africa and
Canada, so there is less demand for Burmese beans.
“In the
domestic Burmese market, the green mung bean has been stable. However,
matpe beans and pigeon peas are trading at a low price,” he said.
