The exports totalled $1.8 billion and the imports were worth $3.4 billion. The maritime trade accounted for more than 80 per cent of the international trade.
Earlier this month, the authorities launched the suppression of contraband at Asia World, Htee Dan, Myanmar Industrial Port, Sule and Bo Aung Kyaw jetties.
For fiscal year 2012-13, the country’s international trade reached $18 billion. And fiscal year 2013-14 saw the trade volume increased to $24 billion.
Plans are being implemented to boost imports and exports for the current fiscal year. This year sees an increase in international trade volume
Myanmar’s international trade volume reached US$ over 18 billion in the 2012-2013 FY and US$ 24 billion the 2013-2014 FY respectively. Plans are under way to promote the trade volume this year.
The country’s main trading partners are Thailand, China, Malaysia, India, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Hong Kong and the US.
