Accor signs another three Myanmar hotels

Accor has signed an agreement to manage three new-build hotels in Myanmar, in a deal that will introduce two new brands to the country.

The European company was one of the first international hoteliers to announce its entry into Myanmar, when it signed deals for two Novotels and one MGallery hotel earlier this year.

And now Accor has doubled its pipeline in the emerging country to six hotels, with the signing of agreements with Myat Min Co Ltd to manage the Pullman Yangon Myat Min, the Sebel Yangon Myat Min and Novotel Inle Lake Myat Min. All new Accor hotels are expected to be operational within three years.

“Accor is proud to announce the signing of three hotels,” said Patrick Basset, Accor’s senior vice president for Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar & the Philippines.

“Southeast Asia has long been a strategic market for Accor, and as Myanmar’s tourism industry develops, we see significant growth potential in this country as well. With this milestone, we have announced a total of six hotel projects in Myanmar and we look forward to helping to further develop the country’s tourism infrastructure in the years to come.”

First to open in 2014 will be the Novotel Inle Lake Myat Min – a 121-room hotel located on the banks of Inle Lake. The property will feature three restaurants, two bars, a ballroom, two meeting rooms, a business centre, swimming pool, fitness centre and spa facilities.

Opening in 2015, the Pullman Yangon Myat Min will become the first upscale Pullman hotel in Myanmar. The property will be located halfway between Yangon city centre and the airport, and will offer 300 rooms, two restaurants and two bars, four meeting rooms, a fitness centre, swimming pool and spa facilities.

Marking the entry of another new brand into Myanmar, and the Asia Pacific region, the Sebel Yangon Myat Min will be a serviced apartment hotel with 100 rooms, a restaurant, bar, two meeting rooms, a swimming pool and fitness centre.

Accor first announced its entry into Myanmar in March 2013, with management deals for two Novotel properties in Yangon and Mandalay and an MGallery property in the capital, Naypyidaw.
