Qatar's Ooredoo Group has appointed Ross Cormack as CEO of its Myanmar unit and expects to launch the operation in 2014.
Cormack, who was previously CEO of Nawras in Oman, has already relocated to Myanmar and is currently heading a team of about 120 people, Dr Nasser Marafih, CEO of Ooredoo Group, told CommsMEA.
"Oman was our start-up operation, so he [Ross Cormack] is now going to be leading our operation in Myanmar. He is very excited by the opportunity," Dr. Marafih told CommsMEA. Ooredoo expects to launch its Myanmar operation sometime in 2014. The precise timing depends on the Myanmar government's finalisation of licencing conditions for the telecoms sector, Dr Marafih said.
