A Japanese delegation led by Minister Akihiro Ohta met with Construction Minister Kyaw Lwin in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday to discuss Japan's involvement in various development and infrastructure projects.
Japan has agreed to carry out the
construction of the Nga Moe Yeik Creek bridge in Yangon, the Thilawa
industrial zone as well as upgrading of the Yangon - Mandalay express
way, according to the reports from the Ministry of Construction.
"Japan is planning to provide required
technology and monetary assistance for safety on the Yangon - Nay Pyi
Taw - Mandalay expressway where accidents often occurred and will
cooperate construction tasks for housing and urban development in
Yangon," said Akihiro Ohta, who is Minister of Land, Infrastructure,
Transport and Tourism.
Myanmar will receive over US$ 600
million worth of development loans from Japan for the 2013-2014 fiscal
year which will be invested into the various infrastructure projects.
Japan is already providing US$ 446.86 million to Myanmar in this year
and has agreed to lend over US$ 980 million for the 2016-2017 fiscal
year.
