Myanmar imports more motorbikes from neighboring countries

Myanmar imported more and more motorbikes from its neighboring countries such as China, Thailand and India over the past recent months, according to Ministry of Commerce.

The volume of motorbikes imported through the country’s border towns such as Myeik, Muse, Myawaddy, Kanpeiktee and Tamu has increased notably.

Popular motorbike brands imported through Myawaddy are Honda Click, Honda Alpha, Dream and Wave and 4,071 motorbikes worth of US$3.4 million were imported through it in October.

The number of motorbikes imported through Myeik also reached 145 worth US$0.099 million.

The country imported the most motorbikes from China, with 10,101 bikes worth US$3.5 million through its border town “Muse” and 405 bikes worth US$0.1 million through Kanpeiktee, also a border town with China, in the second week of this month.

But Myanmar imported the least number of motorbikes through Tamu from India, with 52 motorbikes worth US$0.043 million.

Last week saw more motorbike imports from Myanmar-China border and Myanmar-India border and this week more from Myanmar-Thailand border, sources said.

Local users buy more China-made motorbikes and the least from India.
