Myanmar has earned over US$150 million from exporting marine products during the first quarter of the 2013-14 fiscal year, according to a report from the fisheries department.
This is a bit short of the target amount
of around 175 million for the first quarter. The country aimed $700
million earning from marine export during this fiscal year.
A total of 90,000 metric tonnes of
marine products were exported in the first four months, said the report
from Fish Inspection and Quality Control Section under the Department of
Fishries.
Alone through normal sea trade routes,
the country’s marine export has expected to earn $440 million by the end
of this fiscal year. It reached $77 million in July, giving signals to
make more efforts to achieve the target.
From border trade, marine export yielded
$73 million in total. The projected target for the marine export
through the border routes is $260 million by the fiscal year end.
