KIA Motors to open new showrooms in Myanmar

South Korea based KIA Motors will open two new showrooms in Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw, according the director of authorized dealer, Super Seven Star Motors Industry (SSS).

“We are arranging to open two new showrooms which will sell brand new cars. We will provide an international standard of services,” said Kyaw Thura, Director of SSS Motors.

The SSS Motors has been authorized dealer of KIA Motors since September 2012 and the company opened its first showroom in Yangon in May this year.

The SSS Motors now has showrooms in Yangon, Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw, Taunggyi, Pyay, Meikhtila and Lashio. It distributes and sells cars manufactured by KIA, Hyundai, Foton and King Long.

KIA Motors is headquartered in Seoul and is South Korea's second-largest automobile manufacturer, following the Hyundai Motor Company, with sales of over 1.6 million vehicles in 2012. As of June 2012, the company is 33.9 per cent owned by the Hyundai, the fourth largest automotive group in the world after Toyota, General Motors and Volkswagen AG according to 2012 annual vehicle sales. KIA had net income over US$42 billion in 2012.

Although South Korean cars have less market share than cars produced by Japan, KIA’s brand SUV cars are popular in Myanmar. Other KIA models imported and sold in Myanmar are Cerato, Quoris, Optima, Picanto, Rio, Sorento, Sportage, Mohave, Soul and K2700.
