Korean firm to conduct feasibility study on water supplying projects in Yangon

The Yangon City Development Committee has signed an agreement with the SK Engineering Construction last Friday to conduct feasibility surveys on the water supply from Kokkowa River to Hlinethaya Township and Yangon’s western zone.


The cost of feasibility surveys will be spent by the South Korean Company.

Kokkowa River is located near Hlinethaya Township. It is expected that a project will take about one year for conducting of feasibility surveys. The water supply projects will continue depending on data conducted from the surveys.

Upon completion of the project survey, it can supply about 200 million gallon of water daily to Hlinethaya Township and Yangon’s west district that are insufficient to meet drinking water.

Although The Phyu water supply station is now supplying water to Hlinethaya Township, the water supply is insufficient for the township. Similarly, Hlawga is now supply the water to Yangon west district on a basis of rotation system.
