The United States and the European Union
have relaxed and lifted sanctions on Myanmar in many sectors during
2012 for the rapid political and economic changes of the Myanmar
government led by President Thein Sein.
The US and EU imposed sanctions on
Myanmar over two decades, responding against human rights violations of
Myanmar military regime.
Although President Barack Obama lifted
import ban on Myanmar in November, the US Congress still needs to affirm
details of trade policies for import.
