Myanmar Airways International (MAI) will soon be offering local flights in the country.
“We asked the aviation authorities for
permission to fly domestic flights. We will run the domestic flights
after we get the green light to fly,” MAI marketing manager Aye Mayatar
said.
The airline will be plying the Yangon-Mandalay and Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw routes with its 100-seater Airbus.
“We have only Airbus aircrafts and we
will fly to towns where these aircrafts can land. We will buy ATR
aircrafts for other domestic flights,” she added.
MAI flies from Yangon to Bangkok,
Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Siem Reap, Bodh Gaya, Guangzhou and other
routes such as Bangkok-Singapore-Bangkok and Mandalay-Bodh
Gaya-Mandalay. The airline also plans to launch flights from Mandalay to
Bangkok, Singapore and Kumin. MAI will be starting its Yangon-Hong Kong
direct flight early January.
