Bidders shortlisted for jet fuel distribution

The Ministry of Energy has recently announced the shortlisted companies, including Shell, BP and PTT, for a joint venture contract distributing jet fuel.

The ministry invited tenders interested in forming joint venture for fuel distribution in Mingaladon Township. The contract would be handled by the ministry’s Myanmar petroleum trading enterprise.

A total of 23 bidders submitted their respective proposals by the June 16 deadline. The ministry made the shortlist of 15, including companies from Singapore, Thailand and South Korea.

On the shortlist are S-Oil Corp, PETRONAS Aviation, PUMA Energy, PTT, Shell Eastern Petroleum, Sky-tanking Holding, Singapore Petroleum, Bangkok Aviation fuel Services, KT Energy, Q8 Aviation, BB Energy (Asia), World Fuel Services (Singapore), ST-Airport Services, BP Singapore and VTTI Asia.

The government granted the exemption of export/import fees for oil and gas enterprises working under the ministry.

Oil and gas is one of the few sectors which see the concentration of foreign investment.

Last April, oil and gas investment reached US$14 billion, accounting for 31 per cent of total investment outlay, according to the report of the directorate of investment and company administration.
