CPG to sign for Kyaukphyu SEZ

Singapore-based CPG Consultancy Ltd will sign this month with the Kyaukphyu SEZ tender invitation and selection committee to serve as key adviser for inviting international developers to the Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone, according to committee member Ba Shwe.

The 1000-acre Kyaukphyu SEZ project is strategically located four miles from Kyaukphyu Township in resource-rich Rakhine State. Its implementation will coincide with construction of the Kyaukphyu deep sea port.

“The draft of the contract for hiring the consultant firm has been submitted to the Advocate-General’s Office. Within a few days, we will sign the contract,” said Ba Shwe.

Myanmar has hired the CPG for US$ 2.4 million (Ks 2.3 billion), which is five percent of the project’s total expenditure. Approximately US$ 277 million will be spent on construction of the Kyaukphyu SEZ.

The CPG will need to invite developers for the SEZ within the nine-month period from March to November this year, the Kyaukphyu SEZ tender committee said.

CPG Corporation is a leading development company in the Asia-Pacific region, providing a diverse range of building and infrastructure development and management services.
