Myanmar to conduct survey for sustainable tourism industry

Places of interest in Myanmar like Inlay Lake and Kalaw Town and Chaungtha Beach are being surveyed the prospect of sustainable tourism in these areas, according to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.

The survey will be jointly carried out by the Institute for International Development (IID) and International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). The Ministry of Tourism is also urging them to implement the survey as soon as possible.

The Ministry also stated that they are going to provide Chaung Thar Beach with electricity 24 hours a day and that they have been working on this task Ayeyarwady Region Government.

Development of tourism industry in Myanmar is the highest among ASEAN nations. Italy and a number of other countries have expressed interest in working with Myanmar to boost the country's tourism industry.

At present, Myanmar is going to implement strategic plan for tourism industry and it will cost US$500. The designated locations for studies include Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay, Inlay, Kyaik Hti Yoe, Ngapali, Ngwe Saung, Puta O, Myeik, Naga region, Natmaunk hill, Loikaw and Chaung Thar beach.

About two million tourist Asia, Europe, Africa, and America arrived in Myanmar in 2013. The figure is expected to reach three million in 2014, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
