Ytalk centres, which are but public phone stands, will be set up in areas where the SEA Games will be held. Users can make unlimited international calls free of charge using Ytalk cards.
The company is still waiting for the approval from Myanmar Post and Telecommunications to proceed with its plan. Meanwhile, the Sports and Physical Education Department under the Ministry of Sports already gave them the go-ahead.
"Our calling service will be launched on December 11. There will be over 50,000 people in the SEA Games. We will arrange so that all of them can call. Besides, the service will be available everywhere, and calls won’t be time-limited," said Wunna, a marketing manager from VMG.
The SEA Games will be held in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay cities as well as the Ngwe Saung Beach. Ytalk centres will be set up near the hotels in these places, Wunna said.
VMG Telecoms is currently providing overseas calling and SMS services in Myanmar.
