Livestock Myanmar 2014 expo to be held in Yangon early next year

Livestock Myanmar 2014 expo will be held at Tatmadaw Hall in Yangon early next year, official media reported on Monday.

Scheduled to be held from January 23 to 25, the expo will feature booths covering the whole livestock value chain, said the New Light of Myanmar.

The event will help breeders know the opportunities that will be brought about by the establishment of ASEAN Economic Community in 2015. It will also provide breeders with economic opportunities in the livestock breeding and fishery sector and technology transfers.

Myanmar's marine export fetched over $200 million in the first five months (April-August) in the fiscal year 2013-14, down 7.271 million dollars compared with the same period of fiscal year 2012-13.

Of the total export, 114 million dollars were gained through normal trade while 113.868 million dollars from border trade.

Myanmar's border trade activities are mostly carried out through Muse, Myawady, Kawthoung, Sittway, Myeik, Maungtaw and Tamu.
