Apple’s first authorized store to be launched in Yangon

Apple’s first authorized reseller in Myanmar, ‘mDrive’ will this month open an Apple store on the first floor of Junction Mawtin Shopping Centre in Yangon, according to mDrive owner Myat Htoo.

Until now, Apple products have entered the country through the grey market, especially from Singapore and Thailand.

Apple sells its products worldwide through Apple Official Stores, Apple Authorized Resellers (AAR), and Apple Premium Resellers (APR).  Apple Official Stores are open in Tokyo, Beijing and Hong Kong in Asia. However, in Southeast Asia Apple usually appoints AAR and APR to reach its customers.

Apple has started with AAR to tap the Myanmar market. In the first Apple-authorized store by mDrive, Apple products except for iPhones and iPads will be available at the launch.

“Macs and iPhones are two separate brands in Apple. After the iPhone team completes its market analysis [for Myanmar], the iPhone and iPad will be offered,” Myat Htoo said.

The store will be designed and decorated according to Apple standards, he added. It will also sell iTune Gift Cards and offer free training to customers on how to make best use of Apple products.
