Myanmar-Japan legal research center to be opened in Yangon university

YANGON, July 1 (Xinhua) -- University authorities of Myanmar and Japan are making discussions to open a legal research center at Yangon University, official media reported Monday.

A memorandum of understanding on the move, along with an agreement on educational cooperation, is expected to be signed soon between Myanmar's University of Yangon and Japan's University of Nagoya.

The documents will also cover exchange of students, professors, researchers, staff, issuing publications and conducting seminars.

Meanwhile, the Pathein University of Myanmar and the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) of Japan has renewed in March the 2004-Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in biodiversity.

The MoU on cooperation in doing research for conservation and sustainability of biodiversity was signed in 2004, under which a Biotechnology Development Center was established at Pathein University.

Moreover, NITE also extended its MoU and project agreement with some Asian countries such as Indonesia, Mongolia and Vietnam in accordance with the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), aimed at conducting research and development for the conservation and sustainable use of biological resources in Asian countries.
