The commerce ministry will turn property under its jurisdiction into shops and centers amid a growing demand as the country’s open up its economic and development space, Commerce Minister Win Myint said.
“To open trade centers and commodity centers, we will use those lands,” the union minister said.
The ministry sold 19 buildings on 2.5 acres land located on Khayay
Pin Street and Minye Kyawswar Street in Yangon. The west district court
of Yangon and the west district legal offices will be built on that
land, an official from Myanmar Agricultural Products Trading told the
Eleven Media. He added the construction projects will be implemented
soon.
“There are not enough warehouses to store the rice reserve while the
government is buying from farmers. Lands are needed to build more
warehouses,” a spokesperson from the Myanmar Rice and Paddy Federation.
The ministry is planning to build a central trade center which will
be built next to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of
Chambers of Commerce and Industry (RUMFCCI).
The RUMFCCI is a department under the commerce ministry and it is located on Minye Kyawswar Street in Yangon.
