ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) workshop was held in Mawlamyine, the capital of Myanmar’s Mon State, to discuss about SME Financing, AEC Blueprint, and importance of SMEs experience in ASEAN countries, as well as International Land Transport Linkages and Related Regional Agreements.
The workshop, which was conducted
yesterday, was aimed at preparing Myanmar businessmen to operate in the
context of ASEAN Economic Community.
Ohn Myint, Mon State Chief Minister,
said at the workshop that Myanmar was rich in natural resources, but
cannot compete with other ASEAN countries. He urged all businessmen in
Mon State to make advance arrangements in cooperation with the
entrepreneurs and experts in Yangon so that they stand shoulder to
shoulder with others in the ASEAN region in the emergence of the AEC.
Later, those attendances made round table discussion with the resource persons.
The similar AEC workshops were held in
the major cities like Yangon and Mandalay last year and Mawlamyaing
hosted the AEC workshop for the first time.
