More low cost SIM cards on the way

Myanmar authorities are planning to sell more low cost CDMA SIM cards next three consecutive months, according to Myanmar Post and Telecommunications (MPT).
 
The plan is to sell at least 350,000 SIMs per month at the price of 1500 kyats apiece.
About one million of CDMA SIM cards will be sold in three months according to the program, the chief engineer Htay Win of MPT said on April 23.


The cards are distributed nationwide through the wards’ administration offices, where ward officials arrange SIM cards draw programe for the residents due to the limited stock.

GSM SIM cards are used internationally than CDMA ones, and only a few countries use CDMA SIM cards, observers said.
