Foreign companies lining up to operate in Hpa-an industrial zone

Management at the Hpa-an industrial zone expressed optimism that the park will live up to the expectation as more and more local and international companies are lining up to rent the property at the industrial park.


Currently three private factories including Myanmar-Japan joint ventured garment factory are running in Hpa-an industrial zone.

The industrial zone has been running since November, 2012.

“Most factories are still under construction. Currently Myanmar-Japan joint ventured garment factory and the other factories are running. The rest are nearly finished although they are under construction,” an official from industrial zone supervising committee said.

The zone is 19th industrial zones in Myanmar and foreign investors have made investment. Investors from Thailand and Japan are also interested to make further investment.

Hpa-an industrial zone have many different kinds of factories including food and beverages, garment factories, purified drinking water factories, mineral refinery plants and so on. Zone 1 has been reserved for foreign investors and the companies from Japan and Thailand are preparing to make investment.

The joint venture factory is running with over 150 workers and the company is planning to run it with over 350 workers, a spokesperson from the joint venture company said.
